Just wasted $120 on a fancy water bottle that leaked everywhere

I bought that trendy insulated bottle from a local shop in Austin last month, thought it was the best thing ever until coffee dripped all over my bag on the bus. The seal gave out after just two weeks of normal use, no drops or anything rough. Has anyone else had trouble with those high-end bottles that claim to be leakproof but just aren't?

My friend Sarah bought the same bottle from a boutique in Denver after seeing influencers rave about it. She filled it with ice water before a hike and by the time she reached the trailhead, her whole backpack was soaked. The cap had a tiny crack in the plastic ring that you couldn't even see until she looked close. She tried contacting the company and they basically said tough luck because she didn't register the warranty online. Now she uses it as a fancy paperweight on her desk.

Man, that is some grade-A garbage right there. I've been there too, @allen.iris. Best trick I ever learned is to take a picture of your receipt and the product's serial number the second you open the box, then email it to yourself. That way you've got a time stamp and proof, and they can't claim you didn't register it. Most of these companies bank on you not having the paperwork handy. It's a shame about your friend's bottle though, sounds like a real lemon. A crack in the plastic ring is a manufacturing defect, plain and simple, not a user error.
