PSA: I spent $40 on a 'premium' ask anything forum guide that was just common sense

It was literally a PDF telling you to be clear and polite, stuff you'd figure out in five minutes. Has anyone else wasted cash on bad advice for this community?

What gets me is how they sell this stuff as some big secret, right? It's not even good advice, it's just the bare minimum you need to function. They're basically charging people to feel like they're in the know when they're just getting scammed. That guide telling you to read the rules is the perfect example. It's like paying for air. The whole thing preys on new folks who just want to fit in and do things right. Makes the whole community feel a bit grimy when people are out there making cash off fake help.

My buddy bought a "secret" guide that just said "read the rules.

Honestly @shanef34, that's the best advice you can get for most games. People skip the manual and miss half the fun stuff.

Reading the manual is like finding hidden levels no one talks about. @rileygarcia is right, it unlocks mechanics you'd never guess were there. That secret guide was basically just handing back the box.
