Serious question: When did you realize you were doing something dumb for years?

I was 30 years old before I figured out you're supposed to peel ginger with a spoon, not a knife. My buddy laughed at me while I was hacking at it and showed me in like 10 seconds. Has anyone else had that moment where you found out a simple trick made life way easier?

Man that ginger thing blew my mind too when I learned it lmao. But my real question is how many years did you spend struggling with it before someone finally told you? Like were you out there with a peeler just crying over ginger for a decade? I have a feeling most people just accept their misery and never question if there's a better way. What other dumb stuff did you do just because nobody ever said "hey try this instead"?

Honestly I read somewhere that gingers have a higher tolerance for pain but also need more anesthesia at the dentist, which is wild if true. But to your question, I spent like 4 years struggling with ginger before my roommate's mom walked in and was like "what the hell are you doing?" Ngl I was just scraping away forever trying to get the skin off. Also I saw a cooking video recently that said you can just smash ginger with the side of a knife and the skin basically falls off, which is way less effort than what I was doing.

idk, is it really that deep though? I mean yeah ginger is annoying but calling it years of misery feels dramatic. I feel like most people just deal with minor inconveniences without turning it into a whole thing. Like cool you learned a spoon trick, but it's not like you were out there crying over ginger every day lol.
