Spent 6 hours trying to fix a toilet that just needed the chain adjusted
My toilet was running nonstop so I watched like 4 YouTube videos and replaced the flapper, the fill valve, everything. Turns out the chain was just caught on the side of the little arm thingy. Has anyone else sunk a whole afternoon into something that simple?

Oh come on, you're telling me you wasted 6 hours on a chain adjustment and you're complaining? That sounds like a win to me. You learned how to replace a flapper and a fill valve, which are pretty much the two hardest things on a toilet. Now you can fix any toilet in your house blindfolded. Next time your toilet acts up, you'll have it sorted in 10 minutes flat. Plus, you saved yourself a hundred bucks on a plumber. That's not a failure, that's a cheap education.

Wait, isn't 6 hours for a simple chain adjustment kind of a lot though?

Oh you learned how to replace a flapper and a fill valve" - that's exactly it though. Six hours sounds like a lot but you also fixed two other things you didn't even know were problems. I've noticed this pattern with everything around the house... you start on one small thing and end up fixing three other things you didn't even know were broken. @kimfisher, it's like when you clean out one closet and end up reorganizing your whole bedroom. That initial chain adjustment just opened the door to everything else that needed attention.
