Unpopular opinion: I think the 'ask anything' rule can make things too broad sometimes

Last Tuesday, I was trying to get help with a broken garage door spring on a forum like this. Someone posted a question about their favorite pizza toppings right after, and my real issue got buried in the noise. I had to wait two days for a good answer because the thread was all over the place. It made me wonder if having zero limits on topics actually hurts more than it helps. Has anyone else had a problem where a forum was so open that you couldn't find the help you needed?

Yeah, that's the worst when your real question gets lost. I started checking if forums have tags or filters before I post now. Sometimes you can sort by "help" or "urgent" tags to cut through the random stuff.

Sort by help" is just how I shop for everything now.

So you sort by help for everything? Like even on big shopping sites? I tried that on Amazon once and it just showed me a bunch of products with broken "helpful" buttons. Does it actually work for you on regular stores, or just forums?
