Y'all get too snobby about detailed answers in this ask space

Short, messy replies often help way more than long ones.

Totally agree with the original post. Sometimes you just need the quick fix, not the whole instruction manual. People overcomplicate things when a simple "do this" would solve it. Gets frustrating watching someone type a novel to answer a yes or no question.

I used to believe extra details were always useful, honestly. @jennifer_dixon's take on quick fixes made me realize it often just complicates things. Now I see that skipping to the simple answer is better for everyone.

The egg story is funny but honestly, is it that big of a deal? People just share what they know. If my guy takes an extra minute explaining paint prep, I just skip to the part I need. It's not worth getting worked up over. Most of the time they mean well, they're just into their thing. Tbh, calling it a "frustration" feels like making a mountain out of a molehill.

Have you ever asked for a simple recipe and gotten a whole history lesson instead? My uncle once spent ten minutes explaining water pH when I just wanted to hard-boil an egg. @jennifer_dixon, your post totally hits home on that frustration! He finally got to the point: boil water, add eggs, wait. But why do people feel the need to overexplain everything? It makes simple tasks feel way harder than they are.
