Found a simple trick for better moon photos without a telescope
I kept getting blurry moon shots with my phone camera, just a white blob every time. Tried tapping to focus and lowering exposure, still looked bad. Then I read somewhere to use a tripod and set a timer so my hands don't shake it. First try on Tuesday night came out sharp enough to see craters. Anyone else got any cheap hacks for phone astrophotography?

Yeah that timer trick is key, shooting raw and stacking a few in free software really brings out the details even more.

Combine the stacking with a sharpening pass, makes a huge difference.

Oh absolutely, the sharpening pass is a total game changer. My buddy tried doing just the stacking thing on some night photos once and they came out kinda soft and mushy looking. He ran it through a free sharpener after and suddenly the stars had actual definition instead of looking like blurry little smudges. Honestly it's wild how much that extra step can fix things, makes the whole process worth it.
