Had to pick between a $300 Celestron and a $600 Meade for my first real scope in 15 years
I went with the Celestron because the guy at the shop said it held collimation better and I'm glad I did since the first night out in my backyard I caught Saturn's rings through a gap in the clouds but I still wonder if that Meade would have given me deeper views of Orion.

Bet you wish you had that extra aperture pushing through the clouds.

Oh come on, like we all don't stare at our gear and dream about upgrades during a bad forecast. But really, how many more clear nights did you actually get with that fancy extra aperture versus just waiting five minutes for a gap? I mean, is it worth hauling all that extra weight up a hill just for one more shot through the clouds?
