My uncle in Flagstaff said to stop cranking the ISO past 3200 and my Andromeda shot finally came out clean
He shoots with a beat up Canon 60D and has been doing deep sky stuff for 9 years, so when he said higher ISO was just adding noise I kind of brushed him off at first. So I shot Andromeda twice last month, once at 6400 and once at 1600, and the 1600 stack had way less grain after I threw the frames into DeepSkyStacker. Turns out he was right and I wasted a whole clear night at the Grand Canyon overlook chasing brightness. Anyone else find their sweet spot ISO is lower than the youtube guides say?
