Did the slides ever come back with a note saying "sorry, we only develop pictures of things on Earth"?

That garage sale projector was a STEAL for 2010. My big question is what you actually found to PROJECT. Did you ever get a good roll of deep space stuff back, or was it all just blurry star trails and maybe a decent shot of the moon? The wait for that mail must have been brutal.

Oh man, that wait for the film was the worst part. Read a blog post once from a guy who tried the same thing, and he said most of his shots were just black with a single weird streak. Apparently getting the timing right for deep space stuff with a basic projector is almost impossible. He did get one kinda cool, fuzzy shot of the Orion Nebula though, after like twenty tries. Makes you realize how good modern digital trackers are.
