Spent 3 hours setting up for the Perseids only to get a cloud bank

I drove out to Joshua Tree last August, found a perfect spot away from the lights, and got my camera dialed in. Right as the peak activity was supposed to start, a solid wall of clouds rolled in from the west and didn't clear until sunrise. Has anyone else had a major shoot ruined by weather and just packed it in?

Yeah, that's the worst. I started checking a few different weather apps for the same spot, not just one. Found one that was way more accurate for cloud cover and saved a few trips. Now I trust it over the others.

Totally agree, I had to do the same thing with rain forecasts. The default app on my phone was always wrong about when storms would hit. Now I cross check with two others before making any plans.

Did your friend ever try that app that tracks cloud layers specifically?
