Update: stacking subs in DeepSkyStacker vs Sequator on the same 47 frames of Andromeda from my driveway in Reno
Sequator kept the star colors way more natural and pulled out dust lanes that DSS smeared into gray mush. Has anyone else switched over, or am I just bad at setting DSS parameters?
47 frames through Sequator is where I landed too after fighting DSS for weeks on my Orion shots. The trick with DSS is messing with the star detection threshold under the advanced tab, but honestly even after tweaking it the color still came out flat for me. Sequator just handles the sky glow and light pollution gradients better out of the box, so I stopped wasting clear nights fighting it.
