I was sanding primer way too fast for a decade until a paint rep in Tacoma called me out.
He was watching me prep a hood and said, 'You're moving that block like it's on fire. Slow down to about 3 inches per second.' I realized I was creating tiny low spots by rushing, which showed up as waves after the basecoat. Has anyone else had a rep give them a simple tip that fixed a bad habit?

Remember watching my uncle buff out a car when I was a kid. He kept circling the same spot way too long, got the paint crazy hot. Burned right through the clear coat in a perfect little circle. Taught me that sometimes going slow is still too much if you're not paying attention to what the material is doing.

Same thing happened with my first woodworking project.

That "going slow is still too much" part is so true, it's a hard lesson to learn lol.
