Just finished a 2018 Ford F-150 bed side that had a weird color match issue after blending

The factory color code was spot on, but after I blended into the door, it looked way too blue in certain light. Took me two extra days of messing with the tint to get it right. Turned out the factory paint on that panel had faded more than the rest from sun exposure, even though the truck wasn't that old. Anyone else run into this on newer aluminum body trucks? What's your go-to check before you start spraying?

Ugh, tell me about it... I had a similar thing happen on a silver Tacoma, the clear was just shot on the roof.

Oh man, that reminds me of my buddy's old Frontier. The clear coat on the hood went totally milky, and @the_rowan, it was a nightmare to fix without a full respray. We ended up wet sanding it for hours, and it still looked kinda patchy in certain light. Just gave up and told him to embrace the patina.

That sun fade on newer trucks can be a real pain to match.
