Just realized my 19 year old helper taught me more about feather edging than any class
I was rushing a quarter panel on a Silverado and he stopped me to point out how my primer edge was showing through at 220 grit. He said his old boss in Amarillo made him block sand a fender for 6 hours straight before he could touch a DA. I swallowed my pride and re-did the whole thing, and the paint laid out smoother than anything I have shot in months. How do you all handle it when the young guy on the floor catches something you missed?
Primer showing at 220 is a pretty normal thing to catch, lots of guys just shoot over it and never notice until the edge lifts a year later. The 6 hours of block sanding story sounds like the usual old timer tall tale, but the fix itself was solid. Did he actually explain why the edge was showing or did he just point at it and walk off?
