Serious question, I now choose liquid mask instead of tape.

I always used masking tape for paint work. It felt fast and simple. But the edges often came out fuzzy. A buddy told me to try liquid mask on a white truck. The line was so clean, it looked perfect. Now I go with liquid mask for any detailed job. It just works better for me.

Totally get that shift. Had the same fuzzy tape issue on a vintage car's two-tone job last year. Switched to liquid mask for the pinstripe and the line was razor sharp, no bleed at all. Honestly won't go back to tape for anything with a curve or detail now.

That's the exact same lesson I learned on my old Volvo's hood scoop. Tried the blue painter's tape on the curves and it was a mess, paint bled right under. Switched to that liquid mask stuff and bam, perfect line first try. Felt like a pro even though I was just in my garage. Total game changer for tricky shapes.

Saw a video last week where a guy used liquid mask on a motorcycle tank's complex curves. Made me think of john_fisher's comment about learning curves, totally get it now. That stuff really is the secret for clean lines.

Took you long enough to figure that out.
