That $800 spray gun I bought from a retiring body guy in Phoenix was the best deal I ever got, still lays down paint like butter 4 years later.
What's the one tool you picked up used that actually outperformed everything you've bought new?

Man, I gotta disagree a little. That used deal worked out for you but I've had the opposite luck. Bought a used framing nailer from a guy who swore it was "barely used" and it jammed on the second nail. New ones have warranties and I know exactly how many beers the previous owner spilled on it.

Didn't I just read on a forum somewhere that a guy's 15 year old used Snap-On scanner saved him way more than a new one ever would? There's something about gear that's already been through the ringer, it's like the kinks have all been worked out by the previous owner. I'd say my 20 year old air hammer from a pawn shop hits harder than any new ones I've tried.

Picked up a used Milwaukee Sawzall at a flea market for thirty bucks five years ago. Thing looked like it survived a war but it cuts through anything I throw at it without complaint. My buddy bought the same model brand new last year and his already sounds like its dying. I swear the older stuff was just built tougher and the previous owner already proved it can take a beating.
