Wasted $300 on a cheap paint booth filter setup, learned my lesson
I figured I'd save some money and bought a generic booth filter pack off eBay instead of the name brand ones my supplier stocks. Ran two jobs last Tuesday and the overspray came out gritty on both, had to strip and reshoot them. The cheap filters let fine dust through and now I'm out the $300 for filters plus the extra 6 hours of labor redoing the work. Anyone else tried off-brand booth filters and gotten burned, or did I just grab a bad batch?

Learned my lesson" is basically my middle name at this point, I've burned cash on so many "deals" that turned into do-overs. My last cheap filter gamble left my clear coat looking like sandpaper and I spent the whole weekend fixing my own mess. Solidarity on the $300, gonna go back to overpaying for the boring stuff that actually works.

The cheap stuff has saved me more times than I can count, and most of those expensive brands are just paying for a name on the box. My $40 filter from the auto parts store has held up fine for two years now, and it did the same job as the $300 one my buddy swears by. Maybe the trick is knowing which parts matter and which ones are just markup, not writing off every budget option.
