That $80 ceramic coating kit I bought online basically did nothing
I watched like 5 YouTube videos and spent a whole Saturday on it. Followed every step, did the IPA wipe down, let it flash right, everything. After 3 weeks I noticed water wasn't beading up at all, and then I saw the bottle I got had been sitting on a shelf for who knows how long. The stuff was probably expired or just bad. I wasted a full afternoon and 80 bucks and my car looks the same as before. Anyone have a brand of spray sealant that actually holds up for more than a month?

Actually the IPA wipe down might be part of your problem. You're supposed to use a very light dilution for that final wipe, like 15% IPA at most, because pure alcohol can strip too deep and leave the paint too clean for the coating to bond right. A lot of those cheap kits also don't have enough solids in the formula, they're basically glorified spray waxes. But if you want something that works, I've had good luck with Duragloss 951 Aquawax, it's about 8 bucks and beads water for a solid 8 weeks even after rain. Just make sure you shake it like crazy before each use since the silica sinks to the bottom.

Wait, you're telling me the bottle could have been expired? I didn't even think to check the manufacturing date on that stuff, I just assumed it was fresh off the line. @aaron_mitchell would probably say I should have looked for a lot number or something on the label. Makes me wonder how many people bought the same kit and are out there thinking they just don't know how to apply it.
