Took me 5 years to figure out I was overloading my microfiber towels

Always thought more soap and pressure meant a cleaner car, but last month I saw a detailer at a truck stop in Iowa just let the soap do the work. He told me I was basically just pushing dirt into the paint with all that elbow grease. Anyone else have that moment where they realized they were making detailing harder than it had to be?

That bit about pushing dirt into the paint really hit home... my buddy spent years scrubbing his truck like he was trying to erase the clear coat and wondered why it looked all swirly.

Read a detailer say grit guards are just asking for scratches if you don't keep everything scrubbed clean.

Dirt getting pushed down is more about the bucket than the guard.
