Warning: $140 ceramic coating kit did nothing because I skipped the prep
I got lazy and slapped a $140 ceramic coating kit on my truck last month without doing a proper clay bar or paint correction first. The paint was already swirled and etched from tree sap, and the coating just locked all that junk in forever. Now I have to pay $350 to have a pro strip it and start over, which is total nonsense. That coating isnt magic, it just seals whatever is underneath, good or bad. If you are thinking about DIY ceramic, please spend the 4 hours on prep or you will throw your cash in the garbage like I did. Has anyone else made this mistake and found a cheaper way to fix it than full machine polish?
