A customer review called out my welds as 'sloppy' - here is what I changed

Someone posted a photo of my work on a trailer repair in Austin and pointed out I was leaving too much spatter. I spent three weeks dialing in my gas flow and wire speed on the Miller 211, and now the beads come out clean every time. Has anyone else had a public critique actually improve their work habits?

Used to hate online critics till one actually fixed my welding. Totally changed my mind.

I get what you're saying about that one helpful critic, but I've had too many bad experiences with people who just want to tear things down without knowing the first thing about it.

Took my own spatter problem to a welding forum and got roasted for it. Ended up switching from C25 to 75/25 argon mix on my new machine and it made a huge difference in bead quality. That one tough comment pushed me to actually test my gas flow at the gun tip instead of just trusting the regulator gauge. Sometimes you just need someone to point out the obvious thing you've been missing.
