Blew $85 on a crappy AI resume optimizer that just made things worse
I paid $85 for this AI tool that claimed to tweak your resume for each job posting. It just swapped my bullet points with weird corporate buzzwords (like 'leveraged synergy' garbage stuff). I sent 12 resumes out with those changes and got zero callbacks, not even a rejection email. Turns out the old version I wrote myself got me an interview last year for the same kind of role. Has anyone else wasted cash on these automated tools that actually ruin your chances?

Yeah exactly, paying someone real to just talk it out with you makes way more sense than feeding it to some algorithm lol.

Yeah I fell for something similar last year. Paid $60 for a "smart" resume builder that turned my clean job descriptions into nonsense like "optimized cross-functional deliverables." What actually helped me was finding a real person on Upwork for $50 who just talked through my experience and wrote it in plain English. Got way more callbacks after that. Sometimes the old school approach just works better than all this AI hype.
