Driving by the new robot-staffed warehouse in our industrial park. It's EERIE how few cars are in the lot compared to the old plant.

My cousin worked at the old bottling plant that automated last year. He said the same thing, how quiet it got without all the shift changes. He ended up taking a free retraining course at the community college, landed a job maintaining the robots instead.

Retraining sounds smart. My attempt at learning to code ended with me yelling at a toaster. Still waiting for my free course to fix that mess.

You looking for work over there? Saw the same thing happen when they automated the distribution center near my old place, lot just emptied out.

Seriously, that EMPTY lot shows the bigger picture. It's not just jobs leaving, it's the entire local economy taking a hit. Communities need a real plan for when the machines move in.
