I overheard a recruiter say they filter out resumes with 'entry level' on them
I was sitting in a coffee shop last week and heard two recruiters talking about how they just toss any resume that says 'entry level' now because AI filters are trained to flag it as a red flag for overqualification. One of them mentioned they use a tool that scans for job titles and automatically drops applicants who use outdated keywords from 2021. It got me thinking about my own resume and how I'm probably getting auto-rejected without even knowing it. Have any of you actually changed your resume to trick an AI scanner and did it work?

Ha, I don't know if I buy that whole thing being that serious lol. I've heard recruiters say all kinds of stuff in coffee shops that sounds dramatic but turns out to be just one person's opinion.
@cole_flores44 is right that listing actual tasks matters more than titles anyway. I've had friends tweak their resumes for AI filters and honestly they got the same amount of callbacks as before.
If you're getting auto-rejected, it's probably more about missing keywords for the specific job than some secret war on "entry level.

oh no dude I gotta push back on that because I actually know a guy who works at one of those big resume filtering companies and he told me straight up that certain keywords get you blacklisted automatically and entry level is one of them now but it changes every few months based on whatever the AI is trained on. like think about it if every single job posting says entry level but then everyone puts entry level on their resume then the system just learns to ignore it or flag it because it's too common and they want people who sound more experienced even for the low level stuff. I've had three different friends completely redo their resumes removing anything that sounded like a generic title and two of them got way more interviews after that so it's not just a coffee shop theory. the real trick is to use the specific job title from the posting you're applying to but rephrase it so it sounds like you did something more advanced than what the title says.
