I thought the AI tax prep tools were just a fad, but my firm just bought one
My boss showed us the demo last Tuesday, and it scanned a whole shoebox of receipts in about 20 minutes. It even flagged a deduction I would have missed on a client's home office. I was sure it would mess up the complex stuff, but it's weirdly good at the basics. Has anyone else had to start working with one of these at their job?

Depends on what you feed it, doesn't it? Garbage in, garbage out still applies here. These tools are only as good as the person checking the work behind them.

Our firm tried a similar tool last tax season and it made a real mess of client trust. It kept mixing up 1099 forms from different brokers, which took us weeks to clean up. I'm still not sold on them handling anything beyond the simplest returns.

We had that exact 1099 problem with TaxEase Pro last year. Cost us three clients and a ton of overtime to fix.
