My bank teller job got replaced by a kiosk last Tuesday
Walked into the PNC branch in Dayton where I worked for 3 years and the manager showed me the new machine. It does deposits, withdrawals, even cashier's checks. They kept 2 humans for the complex stuff but cut my shift from 40 hours to 8. I get why it makes sense for the bank, but I spent a whole year learning their systems and now I'm applying at a grocery store. Has anyone else had their hours slashed after a kiosk or AI system rolled in, and did you find any work that pays near what you made?

Got a resume that says "certified in 12 different banking systems" and now my biggest skill is knowing which checkout lane at Kroger has the shortest line. The kiosk probably won't replace me there yet, but I'm not holding my breath. Spent 3 years learning all that bank software for nothing, feels like studying for a test that got cancelled. Grocery store pays about half what I made and the uniform smells like deli meat. Maybe I should just stand next to the kiosk and offer to push buttons for people, that's the only job security left.
