My manager told me my reports were too slow and a bot could do them

He pulled me aside last week and said, 'Jamie, the new system can pull these numbers in 10 minutes, you're taking half a day.' I started using the automated data pull tool the next morning, even though it felt weird. Now I just check the bot's work and add my notes, which saves a ton of time. Has anyone else had to switch from doing a whole task to just checking a machine's work?

robertcarr that's exactly how I felt at first but now I love just watching the bot work.

Honestly that shift from doing the work to just checking it is super common now. My whole team basically just manages automated reports these days. It frees us up for the stuff that actually needs a human brain.

Watched my buddy's whole data team get reshuffled last year. They used to build all the dashboards by hand, now they just review what the system spits out. He says it's weird but he spends more time asking "why did this number spike" than actually making the charts.

Ever think that was a bad thing? Hearing this makes me see it differently now.
