Paid $150 for a resume writing AI tool and it was a total waste

I kept seeing ads for this automated resume builder that promised to optimize my application for ATS systems. Figured with all the talk about AI screening tools, it was worth the $150 to get past those bots. The thing just spat out generic bullet points that sounded nothing like my actual experience lol. Took me 3 hours to redo everything myself after I saw how bad it was. A buddy told me to just use a simple template and customize each job instead, which is free. Has anyone else blown cash on these automation tools and regretted it?

Can't believe they charged $150 for that lol. I wasted $80 on one of those "AI cover letter" apps and it told me to describe myself as a "results driven synergy creator" which sounds like a villain from a bad office movie. The worst part was it completely ignored my actual job history and just made up fake sounding achievements. Ended up deleting the whole thing and writing it myself in like 20 minutes using notes from my old performance reviews. These companies are just preying on people who are nervous about job hunting.

Can't believe you spent $80 on that thing, @hugos46. Those apps are just scanning job posts and guessing at what sounds official. It's wild how they'll confidently make up fake achievements like that's somehow better than just writing your own stuff.

Is it really that deep though? I mean yeah it sucks to lose $150 but like @hugos46 said you can fix a resume yourself in 20 minutes once you know what you're doing. Those AI tools are just guessing based on buzzwords they scraped from LinkedIn. I've seen people stress way too much about ATS systems when half the time a human is still the one reading it first.
