Serious question, what if we're wrong about the trucking jobs?

I just read a report from the University of Michigan that said the timeline for fully autonomous long-haul trucks is way longer than people think, maybe 20 years. It's not just the tech, it's the legal stuff and the public trust. I was sure my cousin's job was toast in five years, but now I'm not so sure. Has anyone else seen data that pushes back the real takeover date?

Honestly, this tech hype cycle keeps missing the real world mess.

Used to think it was all hype too, @ivan_murphy80, but seeing it fail in real life changed my mind lol.

Oh man, tell me about it. I bought into the last big thing and my smart home now has more drama than a reality show. The fridge won't talk to the lights, and the door lock just gives me the silent treatment. It's a perfect, expensive mess that really makes the point for you.
