The self checkout kiosk at Walmart plus $46 saved my Tuesday but now Im scared
Work week was garbage, Monday I got dinged for missing a metric because a machine filled our order wrong. Then Tuesday I walk into the Walmart on Route 9 and the self checkout thing fixes my coupon issue in like 10 seconds, no line. Felt great, saved maybe $46 on groceries. But then I sat in my car and thought about it. That kiosk replaced 2 cashier shifts at that store just this year. And the order machine at my job replaced a guy named Dave who retired early. I used to laugh at people scared of robots, but now I'm wondering if my own supervisor is gonna pick a machine over me next review. Has anyone else had one of those weird days where you benefit from automation directly, then realize you're on the chopping block too?
