Vent: My barista friend in Seattle said he's not worried about robots at all
Honestly, we were talking last week at the cafe, and he just laughed and said, 'People will always want a real person to make their coffee, the machine can't chat or remember your dog's name.' Ngl, it stuck with me because everyone else I know is freaking out. Has anyone else had a friend just totally brush off the whole automation thing?

What about the cost to run the place? A robot barista needs a huge upfront buy, plus constant fixes and software updates... my uncle's factory had a robot arm that broke down all the time. The repair bills were crazy.

Totally agree, my friend's cafe tried a fancy automated brewer that needed a software patch every other week (it was a total money pit).

Huh, I gotta respectfully disagree a bit here. My local coffee shop has one of those automated setups and it's been running smooth for over a year now with barely any issues. Maybe the tech is getting better or your friend just got a lemon?

My cousin's work got one of those self-checkout kiosks last year and it was offline like half the time, lol. They ended up just putting an "out of order" sign on it permanently.
