Was dead against those LIDAR mulch robots until my back gave out

Ngl, I always thought those autonomous mowers were just a gimmick for rich folks. Then I threw my back out last Monday moving 40 bags of mulch for a client's flower beds. My buddy let me borrow his Husqvarna automower for a weekend demo. That thing mapped my entire yard in 20 minutes and ran circles around the beds perfectly. Honestly, I'm now seriously considering dropping $2,200 on one. Has anyone else here had their mind changed after trying a robot landscaper?

That back injury is no joke, man. I tweaked mine last spring just lifting a shovel wrong and I was out for like two weeks. It really makes you rethink every stubborn opinion you had about "real work" and tools that do it for you. My neighbor got one of those LIDAR mowers and I used to give him so much crap about it, calling it his lazy robot. Then I saw it navigate around his kid's toys and tree roots without missing a beat, and I shut up real quick. Now I'm saving up for one myself because honestly, my pride isn't worth another week on the heating pad. You ever try carrying a wheelbarrow full of wet mulch up a hill?

jamieb80 said "my pride isn't worth another week on the heating pad" and i get it, back pain is rough. but i really think you guys are jumping the gun a little here. one bad injury and suddenly we're ready to spend over two grand on a robot to spread mulch? come on. i've seen those things get confused by a wet leaf or a patch of uneven ground and just stop dead. you still have to babysit them half the time. plus, that's $2,200 that could go toward a good wheelbarrow and some proper lifting technique instead of a gadget that'll probably break in two years. maybe i'm just stubborn but i'm not ready to hand over my yard work to a Roomba on steroids over one bad week.

Funny how a little pain can make you rethink everything.
