A pilot's comment about my wiring job made me rethink my whole approach

Back in '08, I was finishing up a new nav light install on a Cessna 172. A pilot looked over my shoulder and said, 'That's a clean harness, but you're gonna get radio noise with that routing.' He was right. I had run the new wire right alongside the VHF antenna cable. I started using a separate conduit run for any new wiring near comms lines after that. Anyone else have a simple routing rule they stick to now?

Honestly seems like a lot of fuss over some wires. Tbh most planes are flying with way worse spaghetti behind the panel. That pilot was probably just being extra careful. Ngl unless you're doing something really wrong, a little noise probably won't even be noticed. People get so hung up on perfect practice when good enough usually works fine.

Yeah, but that pilot saved you a headache later...

Listen to that pilot because clean wiring prevents real problems later.
