Finally got that weird static out of a G1000 audio panel after two days
Last week at the hangar in Fresno, I was chasing a faint buzz in a customer's Cessna 182 that only showed up on the pilot's side. I swapped the headset jacks and even the whole audio panel, but it was still there (so annoying). Turns out it was a tiny bit of corrosion on pin 7 of the X-connector behind the panel, which I only found after checking every single pin with a magnifier. Has anyone else had a G1000 audio gremlin that turned out to be something simple like a bad pin?

Man, that sounds like the worst kind of hunt. Ever had one where the fix was stupid simple but finding it was a nightmare? I spent half a day on a King Air once because the copilot's mic was cutting out... turned out the push-to-talk switch on the yoke was just full of old coffee grinds. The guy must have spilled his whole cup in there years ago and it just finally gummed up.
