That one intermittent fault on a Citation's transponder that ate my whole weekend

Spent 14 hours chasing a ghost signal that would drop out only above 15,000 feet. Turned out to be a cracked solder joint on a board connector you can't even see without pulling the whole rack. Anyone ever had a gremlin that only showed up at altitude like that?

Cracked solder joints are the worst! I read a forum post once where a guy had a similar issue with static in the headset only above 10,000 feet. It was a tiny cold solder joint on the audio panel that would contract just enough with the cold to break contact. Took him forever to find it.

My buddy had a King Air with a landing light that would flicker only above 12,000 feet. They finally traced it to a bad ground wire in the wing root that would vibrate just right at that altitude.

Sounds like a minor issue, honestly.
