Took me 5 years to figure out I was crimping my D-sub pins backwards
I was at a job last Tuesday rewiring a Garmin G500 install on a Cessna 172. I kept having intermittent pin issues on the DB25 connector, so I pulled out my DMC 1000 crimper and redid them. An old tech named Rick walked by and asked why my pins were facing the wrong way in the tool. I had been putting them in with the barrel side down instead of up for half a decade. Has anyone else realized they were doing some basic step totally backward for years?

Man that DMC 1000 is a beast but it'll let you mess up all day if you don't pay attention. I did the same thing for like 3 years with my K13 kit before a buddy at the hangar pointed it out. Now I always double check the pin orientation before I close the jaws, especially on the smaller gauge wires where it's easy to flip them. Grab a cheap magnifying headset if you don't have one, makes spotting the barrel side way easier.

Fair point @phoenix573 but it's actually the DMC 1000 not 1000.
