Tried a digital torque adapter from a yard sale, got a scare on a 737
Picked up a used digital torque adapter for 40 bucks at an auction in Tulsa, seemed like a steal. Hooked it up to my clicker wrench on a rudder cable turnbuckle, and it read 40% higher than my manual called for. Turns out the adapter was set to foot-pounds while my spec was inch-pounds, so I nearly over-torqued a critical fitting without knowing. Scrapped the adapter and went back to the old school method, but it made me double check every electronic helper I use now. Has anyone else had a 'smart tool' give you bad numbers in a pinch?

Yard sale adapter math is rough, but foot-pounds versus inch-pounds is a 12x jump, not 40%. That thing was broken or you misread the screen.
