Tuesday at Kansas City hangar finally turned around for me
Been troubleshooting a intermittent fault on a King Air 350 pitot static system for three days. Found a loose connector pin on the ADC behind the panel after pulling my hair out. Called the lead over and he nodded and said 'good catch.' Made my whole week honestly. Anyone else have those simple fixes that feel like winning the lottery?
my buddy mark had a similar thing happen on a Cessna 172 last month. he was chasing a dead right mag for like two days, checked timing, swapped plugs, even changed the harness. turns out it was just a loose ground wire on the firewall that someone left finger tight. he said the lead gave him a pat on the back and he felt like a genius for like a week. simple stuff like that always makes you feel like you earned your pay even though it was basically luck.
That's one way to look at it. But I figure the luck is finding it quick, not solving it. He still took the right steps to narrow it down before he found it. Plenty of guys would've just thrown parts at it and never actually fixed the root cause. He did the work, he just saved time by stumbling onto the right spot.
