Update: My logbook hit 1,000 autopilot system checks this morning.
One side says it's just a number, but the other side feels like a real mark of trust in keeping those systems safe, so what's a milestone that actually meant something to you guys?

Honestly, that number seems pretty real to me. A thousand times you've made sure things are working right... that's a quiet kind of trust you build with the machine.

Yeah, I used to think those big round numbers were just for show. What changed it for me was hitting 500 on something and realizing I could run the whole check in my sleep, but still caught a weird hum that day. The number became proof I was paying attention, not just going through the motions.

Aaron's right about that quiet trust. It's not just checking a box, it's building a kind of muscle memory where you know the sounds and feels of a normal system. Hitting a number like that proves your own habits are solid, which is the real foundation of safety. The milestone that sticks with me was the first time I caught a tiny irregularity before it became a problem. That shift from just following steps to truly understanding the machine, that's the moment the numbers start to mean something.
