Walked through the Delta hangar in Atlanta and saw something that bugged me
I had some time between flights last month so I wandered near the maintenance area, not inside obviously, but past the open bay doors. One of the line guys I was talking to pointed out how a lot of the older 757s still running have these ancient PTT switches that are basically impossible to find parts for now. He said they've been patching the same wiring harnesses for 8 years because Boeing stopped making the connectors. That got me thinking about how much of our job is just keeping 30 year old tech alive with electrical tape and hope. Anyone else notice parts scarcity hitting harder on the legacy airframes? How do you source the weird stuff now?
