Appreciation post: a cold email trick that landed us a $25k contract
We were stuck trying to reach procurement managers at manufacturing firms in Ohio, and our usual emails got no replies. I tried sending a very short video, just 30 seconds, where I showed their website on screen and pointed out one small thing we could fix, and that got a meeting in two days. Do you think video works better than text for cold outreach now, or was this just luck?

Wow, that's a solid result... What did you use to make the video? I'm wondering if it was a quick screen recording or something more polished.

Oh man, the "quick screen recording or something more polished" question hits home. I've spent way too long trying to make a simple clip look decent. Sometimes you just want it to be clean without a huge learning curve. That middle ground between fast and pro is weirdly hard to find.

Just realized you said you spent "way too long" trying to make a simple clip look decent. That's the whole trap right there. You open a program for a two minute job and suddenly you're adjusting audio levels and looking up how to add a lower third. The tools either do everything or nothing, and both choices waste your time. I've lost entire afternoons to that exact cycle.
