Decided to cold email 500 prospects with a super personalized AI script and got a 0.3% reply rate, all asking to be removed from the list.

The whole 'hyper-personalization at scale' promise fell apart when the first reply I got was 'How do you know I have a golden retriever named Baxter, please stop.'

Ever try just being honest about where you found the info? I got a few replies back when I said something like "Saw your post about Baxter on the community board, he looks like a great dog." It shows you did some real looking but you're not pretending to be their best friend. The trick is to use the detail to start a normal talk, not to fake a whole relationship right away.

Scraping creepy data like @hugos46 said just makes people feel watched, not seen.

Sounds like the AI scraped some creepy data. That's not personal, it's just invasive. The whole point gets lost when you freak people out. You can't fake a real connection with a script, even a clever one. People see right through it and it does more harm than good.

It's the same energy as a cashier using your name from a loyalty card. The tech is there, but it just feels weird and forced. That fake friendly thing never lands right.
