Half my team sat through a 90 minute Zoom demo last week where the presenter talked about features we never use
I manage about 15 accounts at a logistics firm outside Nashville, and we've been evaluating a new CRM. The demo showed off all this fancy automation for social media drip campaigns, but our clients just need straightforward inventory tracking and invoice generation. After 40 minutes I asked point blank if it could handle batch shipping labels, and the guy went quiet for like 10 seconds before saying 'that's on the roadmap.' Why do these companies keep selling flashy tools to businesses that just need the basics done well? Has anyone else dealt with vendors pitching stuff your operation clearly doesn't need?

Had a buddy at a trucking company sit through a 3 hour demo where the CRM guy spent 30 minutes showing off their AI chatbot feature. When my friend asked if they could just email an invoice PDF, the dude looked confused and said they'd "circle back to that later.

Three hours for a demo that didn't even cover basic invoicing? That's just painful. I can't believe the sales guy spent half an hour on a chatbot that probably can't even handle a simple PDF request and then completely dodged the invoice question. That's the kind of stuff that makes small business owners want to throw their laptop out the window. Sounds like your buddy dodged a bullet honestly, that CRM was never going to solve their actual problems.

Man that's rough @wendy820. Your buddy probably wanted to smash his phone after sitting there for a whole hour just on some chatbot nonsense when real business is about getting invoices out the door. CRM sales people always flex the flashy features nobody asked for and totally ignore the boring stuff that actually matters. Hope your friend didn't waste any more time with that company after that demo.
