I finally realized my CRM integration was silently dropping leads for a week after a server update.

I only caught it because a client in Phoenix called to ask why we hadn't responded to their inquiry from last Tuesday, so now I'm running a daily manual check on the API logs until we get a permanent fix, has anyone else had to set up a similar patch for HubSpot or Salesforce?

Silently dropping leads" sounds pretty bad, but is it a real crisis? A week of lost data in a big pipeline is one thing, but if you only got one call from Phoenix, maybe the volume was low. Daily manual checks seem like overkill for a small leak. Could you just set a simple alert for when the lead count dips below normal instead of reading logs all day?

The Phoenix call was just the one we heard about, @west.casey. A silent drop means you never know the real size of the leak.

That's how small problems turn into big ones, because you only fix what you hear about. It's like a slow leak in a tire. You don't notice the daily drop in pressure until you're stranded on the highway. An alert is a good start, but what's "normal"? If the drop is slow enough, the new low becomes the normal.

My buddy had a tire like that, bought it used and thought the pressure was fine. Ended up on the side of the 405 at 2am, just from losing a pound a week for months.
