Discovered a game changer for crossing loose scree fields

I kept slipping and sliding on a steep slope near Mount Whitney last summer until a hiker told me to try a quick heel plunge on each step instead of placing my whole foot down. It gave me way more control and I cut my descent time by about 20 minutes. Has anyone else found a weird trick that actually works for tricky terrain?

Tripped over my own feet trying it and somehow still ended up going faster.

Used to roll my eyes at people saying it was a game changer, figured it was just hype. But then I tried it on a steep section where I usually slow way down and it actually felt smoother and faster than I thought possible. Can't argue with my own watch data either, my splits were way better. What kind of terrain were you testing it on?

Oh man, I was exactly the same way. I remember telling my buddy it was just marketing fluff, no way some shoe tech could make that big a difference. But then I hit a rocky downhill section I know like the back of my hand, the one where I always brace for impact and end up with sore knees. First time in these things, I felt way more stable coming down and my legs didn't feel beat up at all after. My heart rate was lower too, which surprised me since I was moving faster than usual. It really changed my mind, that's for sure. What kind of trails do you usually run?

Yep, tried it on loose gravel and suddenly my feet knew what to do.
