Dropped $85 on a bear canister for a section of the AT where there are literally no bears
Carried that 2.5 pound brick for 40 miles through Shenandoah last weekend because I didn't bother to check the local wildlife page, and a ranger told me at the shelter that bears haven't been spotted in that stretch in 3 seasons.
