Met a guy on the trail who changed my whole plan for the Wind River Range
I was about three days into the Highline Trail loop, filling up water at a creek crossing. A guy coming the other way saw my map and said, 'If you keep going that way, you're gonna miss the best part.' He pointed to a side trail I'd skipped and told me about a basin with five lakes you can only see from there. I ended up adding a day to my trip just for that detour. Anyone else had their route totally flipped by a random tip from another hiker?
