Picked the wrong trailhead for a three day trip and it cost me

Last fall I had to choose between starting the Rae Lakes Loop from the Roads End trailhead or the Kearsarge Pass one. I went with Roads End because of the shorter drive but the parking lot was packed and I lost two hours waiting for a spot. Has anyone else gambled on a trailhead and regretted it?

Lost my mind" is a good way to put it. Last week I spent a full hour looking for my phone while talking to my mom on it. She just kept saying "check your back pocket" and I kept telling her I already did. Turns out the pocket trick only works if you actually check the right pocket.
