Pro tip: I hit 100 miles on the Lost Coast Trail and my feet were not ready
I just got back from the Lost Coast in California and my GPS watch said I walked 103.7 miles over 5 days. I thought my boots were broken in, but the sand and rock mix there is a whole other thing. My heels are wrecked and I should have done way more sand training. Anyone have good shoe tips for that kind of long, soft ground?

Honestly, the Lost Coast just does that to people. Tbh my feet hurt just reading your post, 100 miles in sand is a special kind of pain. I did a shorter section once and felt like I was walking on wet concrete for days. Next time I'm just gonna duct tape some old couch cushions to my boots.

Duct tape and couch cushions? That sounds like a great way to end up with even more blisters (and look totally silly). I actually think the wet concrete feeling builds character, and @the_drew probably has some good tips to make it less awful.

Did you try any foot care tricks during the hike, or just suffer through it?
